Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMC) supports the initiative of the Ministry of Economy on the National Transport Regulatory Commission (ORTT).

The world experience shows that this is possible only if an independent industry regulator - ORTT. The committee therefore supports the proposal of the Ministry of Economy to the Cabinet," - said the acting chairman of AMK Alexander Melnichenko .

According to him, the functioning of the National Commission eliminate the dualism in the work of the Ministry of Transport, which now serves as a business entity, and control. "Imperfections of the existing system of tariff formation in the field of transport is proved by all the executive bodies", - stressed Melnichenko.

The committee was reminded that the Ministry of Economy re-introduced to the Cabinet the establishment of ORTT.

Law of Ukraine "On natural monopolies" of 2000 stipulates that the regulation of natural monopolies is committed national commissions regulating natural monopolies. Such monopolies true scope of the use of railway routes, dispatching services, stations, etc., providing the movement of rail transport, as well as specialized services of transport terminals, ports, airports.

To date, the relevant National Commission established and operated in the areas of communications and electricity.

ORTT acts against the creation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine.
