President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a federal law On Amending the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, adopted by the State Duma on June 5th, 2009 and approved by the Federation Council June 17, 2009, the RBC with reference to the press serving president. It is the law, require a special order of a court decision at the conclusion of trial of a cooperation agreement - the so-called deal with the justice system.

Law is aimed at countering the organized forms of crime through law enforcement cooperation of individuals involved in organized criminal groups and communities in terms of reducing them to criminal penalties and spread them on measures of state protection.

The Penal Code is amended, under which the mitigating circumstances include active assistance in detection and investigation of crime, and exposure of criminal prosecution of other participants in the offense, the search of property obtained as a result of the crime.

In pre-trial detention of a cooperation agreement in the presence of mitigating circumstances and no aggravating circumstances, the duration or amount of punishment can not exceed half the maximum term or extent of the most severe punishment. If the article provides for life imprisonment or the death penalty, those penalties do not apply.
