Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko believes that in the winter of difficulties in the issue of transit of gas to Europe via Ukraine should become smaller. This he said in an interview with German newspaper Die Welt.

In my opinion, the following winter, the difficulties should be less. Because unlike previous treaties, which always end by the end of the year, we have ten-year contract with Ukraine, - said S. Shmatko.

He believes that even in the event of default, Ukraine will be able to technically make sure gas lines, and if necessary with international assistance. As far as I can see both Russia and the EU ready to help Ukraine, but not limited to, credit. This is, in any case, negotiations are under way, - he added.

Responding to the question: You have lost its reputation because of the long conflict with the transit country Ukraine? S. Shmatko said: No, no determination. Without a doubt, the reputation of Gazprom has suffered in the eyes of Europeans in the dispute over natural gas. However, we feel unjustly accused.

According to him, the gas used in Ukraine, the conflict for domestic political power struggle. 40 years of uninterrupted Russian oil and gas supplies to Europe have laid a substantial foundation, that it can be to destroy the dispute.
