Lithuania has consistently supported the European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine, and Lithuania's leadership is one of the biggest supporters of such an integration. The statement was made by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko in Vilnius after a meeting with newly elected President of Lithuania Daley Gribauskayte.

Victor Yushchenko stressed that Ukraine relations with Lithuania has always been extremely important. This attitude, which have much in common pages - he said at the beginning of the meeting, noting the relevance of their further deepening.

He drew attention to the importance of the implementation of the Roadmap development of Ukrainian-Lithuanian relations in 2009-2010.

Yushchenko stressed that Ukraine is very important to maintain the trend in the project of European integration and to have reliable partners in the EU. In this context, he pointed out that it was essential to the completion this year of negotiations on an association agreement with EU. At the same time, the head of state pointed out that 2009 is not particularly conducive to this.

This situation that exists today in Europe - and economic, and political and election of the President of the EU imposes special difficulties for the second half of 2009, but for me sverhtsel - that we have this year completed in December summit of EU - Ukraine Kiev and were the most ready to sign association agreements, - said the President.

Certainly, he said, in this process we need the support of all EU countries, including Lithuania and the Swedish Presidency of the EU until the end of 2009.

We have a very productive way between our two countries to free processing of visas for citizens of Ukraine, - Yushchenko said.

He also said that the President invited Ms. Gribauskayte visit with the first overseas visit in the Ukraine and the visit to sign several agreements, especially on the visa issue. Also during the meeting discussed the project EANTK.

I turned to Mrs. Gribauskayte to take a direct part in the consideration of this issue in Brussels, - said the President.
