Today Ukraine officially launched the campaign before the second round of presidential elections. On the eve of the Central Election Commission summed up the final results of the first round, held on January 17, and appointed a second round on February 7. The ballot will include two candidates - the leader of the opposition Party of Regions, Viktor Yanukovych, who collected 35.32% of votes (more than 8.6 million voters), and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, supported by 25.05%, ie 6, 1 million voters. The current president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko won a fifth position on the voting results (5.45% of votes).

CEC also appointed a debate between the candidates on February 1 at the First National Channel. The Prime Minister has agreed to come to the debate, but the Party of Regions leader refused.

Viktor Yanukovych meets today in Kyiv, and then will communicate with voters in the regions. Yulia Tymoshenko went to Vinnitsa. At a briefing at the airport, she said that the proposed ex-head of the National Bank Sergei Tigipko Prime Minister of Ukraine in case of its victory in the elections and expects a response to the second round. She noted that the program for Ukraine"s reform and economic development, the proposed Tigipko largely coincides with its program. Sergei Tigipko was third after the first round, thus Tymoshenko is trying to attract voters to vote.

Meanwhile, yesterday in Kiev there was a scandal over attempts to capture the power of printing plant "Ukraine", which printed ballots. In the Party of Regions believe that the plant is trying to change the management team of Yulia Tymoshenko, to print extra ballots and falsify the election results. Head of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in turn, blamed the incident around the plant to "regionals". By decision of the Council of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the plant will protect the internal troops.
