Jul 10th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Main NewsDirector of the Institute of Demography and Social Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ella Libanova believes that Ukraine will have to talk about raising the retirement age.
This may sound unacceptable, but will have to talk about raising the retirement age, because in other circumstances, we never sbalansiruem pension provision, - said E. Libanova during the presentation of the results of the study The implementation by Ukraine of the International Conference on Population and Development in 15 years in Kyiv on Friday.
Speaking of gender policy in Ukraine, she noted that wages for women is now 25% lower than men's, women's pensions lower than 33%. This suggests that the formula for determining retirement benefits is to give preference to men, - she said.
E. Libanova also noted that for 15 years, Ukraine in raising life expectancy almost did not reach any tangible results. So, if in 1994 the life expectancy in Ukraine is among women 73 years of age, then 15 years later, she is 74 years. Among men, life expectancy of 15 years has decreased: in 1994 it was 62.4 years and in 2009 - 62.3 years.
According to E. Libanovoy, life expectancy in Ukraine at the last place among European countries. Ukraine on this indicator is ahead of only Russia.
At present in Ukraine for the age of retirement for men is 60 years for women - 55 years.
