Jul 27th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Main News

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama sees Russia as a major player wants to see her strong and prosperous country. According to political analysts, this statement is designed to demonstrate to Moscow that the White House remains committed to reboot the relationship between the countries.
Statement

H. Clinton was a reaction to the interview with U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden Wall Street Journal, in which he stated that the Russian economy fizzle out, the population declines, while the banking sector does not stand in the next 15 years. This will force Russia to accept a compromise with the West on some issues in the field of security, in particular to reduce the nuclear potential. Washington is not inclined to compromise, made it clear the Vice-President: Some say that the previous administration had concluded [with Russia] deal for Chechnya in exchange for Iraq. We do not intend to.
Biden

statement contrasts sharply with the friendly remarks visited in early July in Moscow, President Barack Obama.

We consider Russia an important player - said Clinton on Sunday in the transfer of NBC. - In each country, its problems - and to us, and Russia. With some of them will not be able to cope no one but Russia itself.

Secretary of State stressed that the current administration does not believe that the position of United States in bilateral relations is preferable, noting that Biden is the first of that rank American politicians called for a reboot of relations between countries - in its February Munich address.
Commenting on the interview

Biden, Assistant to the President of Russia Sergey Prikhodko asked two questions: why the criticism was voiced at a time and who determines U.S. foreign policy - the president, or even respected, but members of his team.

Clinton replied that such an unwarranted concern - the U.S. are two wars, not to mention other foreign policy challenges, which means that the diplomatic delegation of powers to people with relevant status and experience, correctly and wisely. Without such a delegation, said Clinton, Obama Administration threatens repetition of mistakes of the Bush administration, which focused on Iraq and Afghanistan, abandon relations with other countries.

At the same time the U.S. was opposed to Russia was the sphere of influence in Eastern Europe. We want to give a clear signal that, rebooted with Russia, we can not say that in the 21 century, Russia could have a sphere of influence in Eastern Europe. This is the attitude and policies, which we reject, - said the State Secretary. If Ukraine and Georgia will ever[have the opportunity] to join NATO, this will depend on them, - said Clinton.
