Name CAN (CAN) is associated with the international abbreviation calcium-ammonium nitrate, in contrast to the already manufactured at the enterprises Evrokhim carbamide-ammonia mixture (CAS). The feasibility of the project is designed Evrokhim together with the Belgian company SNC Lavalin.

The new production is organized on the basis of the renovated shop complex fertilizer NAC Nitrogen . The need for reconstruction of the shop was due to the fact that the key to EuroChem European markets are the restrictions on the supply of ammonium nitrate with a nitrogen content exceeding 28 percent in connection with its potentially explosive. That is why the previously 34 per cent nitrate could not be exported to Europe.

The project will enable the production of CAN since 2010:

- first in Russia to produce new high-quality explosion-proof product that conforms to international safety standards, storage and transportation;

- to bring the annual production of CAN to 420 thousand tons;

- eliminate air pollution and reduce the specific consumption of ammonia per ton of product produced by introducing a new scheme of aspiration and cleaning of waste air using wet cleaning.
